Start now

Start now

Got up early, packed a little breakfast and headed to the beach with my mom. I have been trying to take the time to go beyond my own street. I have to make dates with myself. It was lovely to people watch and feel the salt air. Yay, Friday!!

I’ve managed to get a few things done today. Just moving things forward.

Mom: “do you have anything you need to do?”
Me: “ya, always”
Mom: “I mean did you get what you wanted done?”
Me: “most of it” — silently I think — “No”

I never seem to get everything I want done. I just keep moving forward.

“Don’t let what you can’t do stop you from doing what you can do.”
~ John Wooden

I have been practicing both the “start now” approach AND simply “get started”. I find that I often don’t start something if I don’t think I have time to finish. But half the battle is starting! If I can just get the materials out, outline the article, or even make a shopping list for a project, these things shave minutes off the time left to complete the task and they also allow me to jump right in the next day or later. And sometimes, I get started and find that I am in a groove and get the whole thing finished, even when I didn’t think I had time.

I hope you had a lovely week, I am looking forward to the weekend. I will be working, but that’s good thing! 🙂
