Headed Back to Viet Nam

This month’s book club selection has me headed back to Viet Nam this month. Ok, so I’m not actually going, boo! But I am headed down a bit of memory lane. The food in Viet Nam was fantastic! The flavors and the freshness are some of the things that make the food so amazing.

This month, the Wanderlust Book Club is reading Eating Viet Nam, by Graham Holliday, and I am so looking forward to it.

July 27 @ 6 pm
Eating Viet Nam: Dispatches from a Blue Plastic Table
by Graham Holliday

With over sixty percent of the people in Viet Nam working in agriculture, forestry or fishing, there are plenty of fresh ingredients wherever you go in Viet Nam, and a street vendor on every corner, (sometimes more than one).

This books was written by Graham Holiday, born in northern England, and drawn to Viet Nam where he went on a quest to find “real” Vietnamese food.  This book will take us down alleyways, across rivers and into small corners of the city, where there are small smoking grills and little plastic table tops covered in fresh produce.

Personally, I could not get enough of the food in Viet Nam during my trip in 2017. I hope this book will be a lovely trip down memory lane, and share some insights as to the variety of food available from in the streets of Viet Nam.

If you are interested in joining our group to discuss this book, we are meeting on Tuesday, July 27 @ 6 pm PST. You can find out more using the links below.
